Welcome to Russell!

So,  I know I've been gone for awhile, but now I'm sitting here with not  whole lot to do and thought I'd blog to the world.  Spencer and I have had the WORST luck with vehicles lately.

1st:  Wednesday night right before we headed home for Spencer's brother's wedding, he was rear-ended on his way to our church.  My car was totaled.

2nd:  The insurance company took TONS of time and we still don't have money back from them.

3rd:  We bought a new car to replace said rear-ended car.

4th:  On our way back to Omaha from Colorado, we get pulled over.  The tail-lights on the Element are out.  We are not going to be allowed to proceed any farther.  The cop tells us we can go as far as the next town where there is no 24-hour store and where we'll have to spend the night.  So here we are, in RUSSELL, KANSAS with our dog, in our hotel room.  What an exciting time right?  Ugh!

I Wish you a Merry Christmas

For those of you that don't know, I'm one of those people that wishes Christmas was every day of every year!  I usually begin listening to Christmas music by October (though I might note that I held off this year due to the unseasonably warm weather), I wait expectantly for the Christmas commercials to come and TV and as soon as I see the Christmas M&Ms out- I buy a bag.

Yesterday was fantastic.  I attended my first Christmas party of 2009.  My friend Stef had an All About Christmas Party where several vendors came and sold their goods.  It was a great time and I got some yummy treats and cool crafts.

I've already begun to decide where I'll put the Christmas trees (yes there are two) and which ornaments should go on each and what I need to buy now that we have a house.  I started stamping my very first stamped Christmas cards 2 weeks ago.  The dog ate my scrapbook tape... needless to say, production has slowed some.

Then, to make things even more exciting, I got home and went to the Target website (which I do often) and they have Christmas stuff on the home page!

Speaking of Target, while I was there the other day I splurged and bought The Santa Clause DVD.  I LOVE that movie!

It just seems to be Christmas all around and I'm so excited.  If people wouldn't make fun of me, I'd probably already have my tree up.

So even though it's only November, MERRY CHRISTMAS!

The Swine

So,  Spencer's had the swine since last Saturday.  I think he's almost over it now.  He's got the hacking cough.  So that's too bad, but on a funnier note.  I had a big wipeout at work today.  Mike had been mopping.  I was out in the lobby for something.  The whole lobby was dry, but he had mopped right in front of the office door.  The floor was VERY wet.  I put my right foot down and flew to the ground faster than I could even try to grab something to stop myself.  It had to have looked hilarious!  I felt like a 92 year old woman getting up off the floor.  So besides my pride, I have an aching elbow, lower back, neck, and bum!  But, it was funny...

Cloudy with a chance of more rain

I love these cloudy, rainy days.  Well I do when I can stay home, curled up on the couch with a blanket and the best book in the world.   I decided the other day that I have got to start reading again.  I used to read everywhere I went.  It was torture to put a book down to eat dinner with the fam.

Then, I went to college... and I HAD to read.  Kind of killed the "enjoyment" of reading I think.  So, I'm thinking about getting a library card and learning how to read for enjoyment again.

I have lots of "ideas" of things I'm going to start doing for the first time or again.  I'm going to start making cards... for Christmas once I get a picture of the whole family.  The whole family being... Spencer, the dog, and me!  I think I need to figure out the self-timer on the new camera.

I also need to catch back up on the scrapbooking.  If I've calculated correctly, I'm approximately 2 years behind schedule.  GREAT!  So if I died now, no one could see in pictures what I've been doing the last 2 years.

I'm also going to become a landscaper.  We've got the most plain and boring yard I've ever seen... so a landscaper I will be.  I've got a gift card for Home Depot and I'm going to buy nice plants and plant them... come spring, maybe.

See?  I'm full of aspirations. . . . . .
                                                     and procrastination.

I'll let you know if/when any of these things amount to anything.

Until then...

Not my cup o' tea

So I'm blogging.  Did this once... upon a time.  In high school.  Turns out it wasn't really my cup of tea. Not actually sure it will be now.  Guess if I stop writing.... it turns out I'm not a very great blogger.

So we got a new house; our 1st house.  It's precious.  3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 1450 square feet.

Then on top of all that, we got the best dog in the whole world.  His name is Sampson, he's a boxer.  He doesn't understand why he can't be on the couch but he can be on the bed, or how to eat spilled food off of the floor.  I don't think he speaks English, at least he doesn't understand what I'm saying.  He doesn't cry, just sort of snorts when he's sad.  It's great.

I've decided I'm not sure why God invented Mondays.  I suppose it's so that all the bad stuff can come out in one day and not drag on through the week.  I think they are possibly the longest days of the whole entire week.  Good thing it's pretty much over, right?

Well, see I'm not doing a very great job of having much to say.  I'll use the excuse that the computer is going to die soon and I need to get going.  Hopefully my blogging will soon improve!
